Small castle dedicated to guarding and defending the small wharf, one of the few that has the coastal perimeter of Almina and Monte Hacho (Desnarigado and Sarchal, to the south and San Amaro and la Cisterna, to the north). It owes its name to a pirate nicknamed "El Desnarigado", who in 1417 made a landing in the cove overlooking the castle, then a watchtower, surprising the guards and capturing numerous prisoners. The current castle, designed by José de Ramón Carbonel, was built on an old 17th century stronghold. It consists of two bodies joined by a wall, in which the access door opens. The one on the left served as accommodation for the garrison, while the one on the right, made up of five vaults, housed the artillery cannons. Currently, it is a Military Museum in which memories and pieces of the different Units linked to the history of Ceuta are preserved and exhibited.
